About the Firm

Meet the Founder

The firm's founder, Sheharyar Ali, graduated from St. John's School of Law and started his career at the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. At the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Ali started as a misdemeanor prosecutor where he prosecuted thousands of misdemeanors, conducted hearings, and trials. After handling misdemeanors, Mr. Ali was elevated to the Grand Jury Bureau where he secured hundreds of indictments for felony assault, robbery, burglary, grand larceny, criminal possession of weapons, criminal possession of drugs, and attempted murder.

Mr. Ali distinguished himself as the first Grand Jury ADA in his unit to be promoted from the Grand Jury Bureau to handling felony prosecutions, where he handled a caseload of approximately one hundred felonies and was responsible for the prosecution of some of the most dangerous individuals in Brooklyn.

After honing his skills at the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Ali swiftly rose through the ranks at the Nassau County Attorney's Office, becoming a Deputy Bureau Chief. In this role, he defended the County of Nassau in hundreds of high-stakes cases in state and federal court, securing multiple jury verdicts on behalf of the County in the Eastern District of New York and Nassau County Supreme Court. During his time at the Nassau County Attorney's Office, Mr. Ali worked on major press cases that were covered by local and national news outlets, including AP News, Fox News, The New York Times, and Newsday.

Defense Verdict

Supreme Court County of Nassau

Sheharyar Ali defended three police officers in a false arrest and assault action arising from allegations that the officers arrested the wrong individual and used excessive force during the arrest. During trial, Mr. Ali secured the dismissal of all claims against one officer through a directed verdict. The jury subsequently returned a complete defense verdict in favor of a second officer and found the remaining officer not liable on three of the four claims asserted against him. Following the verdict, the matter resolved for approximately 90% less than the plaintiff’s pre-trial demand. The result reflects Mr. Ali and the firm’s willingness to take cases to trial when necessary and advocate aggressively to achieve favorable outcomes for their clients.

Sheharyar Ali served as the lead attorney representing the County of Nassau in a case focused on allegations of deliberate indifference to medical needs and negligence. Over the course of two weeks the trial featured numerous civilian and expert witnesses who presented their testimonies. Ultimately the jury returned with a verdict in favor of the defense clearing the county of the claims made against it.

After hearing all the evidence the jury spent three days discussing the case. In the end they reached a unanimous decision in favor of the defense. This outcome highlights the effectiveness of Mr. Ali's legal strategies and his ability to present a case to the jury.

Sheharyar Ali achieved a significant victory in Nassau Supreme Court by securing a defense verdict in a case involving allegations of excessive force by County Correction officers. The plaintiff claimed that the officers had acted improperly during an incident. However Mr. Ali effectively presented evidence and arguments that demonstrated the force used by the officers was appropriate given the situation they encountered. He successfully convinced the jury that the officers acted within their rights and that their actions were reasonable. The outcome highlights Mr. Ali's ability to effectively communicate with the jury.

Sheharyar Ali effectively represented the County of Nassau in response to negligence allegations made by an inmate. The inmate, who was stabbed at the correctional facility, claimed that the County failed to provide adequate safety measures.
